С распространением сенсорных панелей с поддержкой мультитач вскоре можно ожидать того, что чуть ли не все нетбуки будут ими оборудованы. Но для работы мало поставить в гаджет сенсорный экран – необходимо чтобы он поддерживался установленной операционной системой.
Windows 7 известна своей «родной» поддержкой технологии мультитач. Именно благодаря этому факту, по мнению многих, продукт Microsoft мог в ближайшем будущем потеснить на рынке нетбуков и подобных устройств ОС Linux. Что ж, теперь шансы сравнялись.
Группа французских разработчиков из ENAC добавила родную поддержку технологии мультитач в Linux на основе ядра 2.6.30. Поддерживаются стандартные жесты: свайп, флип, поворот и щипки.
Хотя мультитач можно добавить в Linux через систему MPX, интегрированную в сервер X.Org версии 7.5, версия ENAC может оказаться предпочтительней. Она раобтает с самим ядром ОС. Также код ENAC более гибок и использует общие библиотеки, а потому может быть встроен в большее количество версий Linux. Один из разработчиков кода заявил, что ожидает включения кода в Google Android.
Что ж, по крайней мере владельцы небуков, неттопов и ноутбуков с сенсорными экранами, оборудованными поддержкой мультитач, не будут ограничены одной (причем платной) операционной системой.

Daniel Libeskind’s latest creation, The Villa, is a step back from his usual large-scale designs, and an attempt to get his foot into the prefab and sustainability design world. An impressive contemporary home, the home is touted as sustainable and energy-efficient. Unlike most humble and affordable prefabricated design, the 3-story home includes a shiny zinc facade and impressive angles — a far cry from the traditional boxy prefab we have grown so accustomed to seeing. And while Libeskind included several eco-friendly building techniques, some seem to be mighty skeptical.

This brightly-colored home designed by Seattle-based Case Architects opened just a week ago, and was featured earlier on Jetson Green this week. The home’s most notable characteristic is its use of vibrant green CertainTeed Fiber Cement for exterior siding, however, the home is a host to a slew of other eco-friendly techniques such as a green roof balcony, rainwater collection, and radiant heat flooring. With rather un-conventional looks, the home still contains some cozy-looking interiors that we think just about anyone could feel right at home in this sustainably planned and built residence.

L'Ordre des architectes du Québec has announced the winners of their 25th annual Prix d'excellence en architecture. A mix of commercial, institutional and residential architecture, a few projects got our attention. The Maison Bernier-Thibault above won the Prix Marcel-Parizeau for a project that doesn't exceed $150,000 (Paul Bernier, architect and Joëlle Thibault). Another was the Quai des Cageux in Quebec City, on the Promenade Samuel-De Champlain, a beautiful new park that stretches for miles along the St-Lawrence river. The prize for interior design went to Les Architectes Duchesneau & McComber for Lignes Aériennes, a loft conversion featuring unusual sleeping quarters, and for single dwellings the prize went to the Maison en U by Natalie Dionne architecte.

Infinitas is a 300 foot yacht concept inspired from the symbol of infinity which has been comprehensively expressed theoretically within the elevation of the yacht. This closed loop eternity symbol is featuring two major elements, the carving out stern and the mid section elliptical shaped deck constructs. The seamlessly flow of the yacht’s superstructure within itself is the outcome of the central structural spine that holds the loop together. The realignment of infinitas’ traditional functional area is an additional benefit of this concept which contains separate main deck, dining room and living room. A massive pool deck is one of the most amazing attractions for the guests that separate the forward moving dining room.
The new deck position allows direct access to the kitchen and dining room and offers additional activities combining with the salon/ living room. The pool deck can be traversed in three ways. First one is a direct outside walkway or bridge which divides the pool with an underwater opening that allows the swimmers to plummet from one side to another. Second method is a flyover which connects to the central stairs and elevator. A lower level lounge is the third option which includes glass portals into the pool. There is a helipad on the bow deck and the yacht can house 12 guests and crew.

A collaboration between Metro Green and Kaplan Thompson Architects, the four bedroom family home and loft merges contemporary architecture with a sustainable footprint that leaves even us totally green with envy.

Да, порой отсутствие третьей руки серьезно мешает нам жить. Например, на фуршетах а-ля шведский стол – когда, отойдя от стола в позиции «в одной руке тарелка, в другой – чашка/банка/бутылка», обнаруживаешь, что взять вилку абсолютно нечем.
